Summer Series: Part Two

Yeah! I actually am adding to the summer series… I know y’all are proud of me! Three blog posts in a week. I’m on fire. I’m kidding… I actually just had a kid free week so all of my time was devoted to the business instead of splitting it between the business and my babies. I loved getting caught up on some back work but I will take time with my kids any day over a few extra blog posts! :)

Here is another example of what the client ordered for their images! I think that this is helpful along with the other posts that I will be sharing to show how I shoot children (ha… this always makes me laugh now even though the phrase has been one I have used my entire adult life. One of my friend’s called attention to it and (yeah cynthia!) thinks that my slogan should be “I would rather be shot by Meghan McSweeney!”). Anyway, I digress… the way that I shoot the majority of my sessions with older children is that I find a spot for them that works well for the composition as well as the lighting but I don’t really pose them. I let them do their thing and find that it helps me capture their personalities in a easier manner. For instance, I think that personalities of these two little people really shine through in this session!

I hope you enjoy!

All my best,
Meghan

Summer Series

Hey, Everyone!
Phew.. this heat is intense. I thought that this week I would pass along some photos to entertain you all sitting in your AC! So many of my clients ask me what other clients order; I’ve decided to show you all a few sessions this week so that you can see different selections from other people. It’s so varied… every shoot, every client, every location is so different, every personality. Some clients only like vertical photos/ some horizontal. It’s like working with a new art director every shoot and I love it! I really think that it will be fun to show you all a few different selections throughout this week.
To start us off, here is a shoot from the winter. I hope you all enjoy.
All my best,
Meghan

Baby C: A one year old session

One year old babies are movers and shakers and this little man is no exception. I had fun chasing him around with his parents out in goochland and look forward to watching him grow up. He has GORGEOUS blue eyes… I love me some baby blues! :) I hope that you all enjoy!

JOY

Holy Winter time blues, Batman! Does this happen to the rest of you? Phew, I can’t wait for spring, lots of friend time, farmer’s markets, the laughter of kiddos on a playground, splashing in the pool, warmth and sunshine. When I am in a mood like this, I always love to go look at pictures of my kiddos! They make me happy. Most of my pictures of them are not posed (They are not fond of Mama with her camera!  Owen (when he was 3) looked at me sternly, told me to put down my camera and enjoy myself. It’s a very humbling when your three year old sees right through you.) and involve a whole lot of goofiness.

Who doesn’t need a reminder of one of the best days in your life,  a picture of your family having a blast together or a picture of your child laughing like crazy to wash away the dreariness?  I love to be able to provide my clients with a little bit of joyous beauty that can brighten a day!  It’s definitely one of the many reasons why I love this job. Certainly, we can remember these things without a photograph but to have it recorded in beautiful way… well, that is just a bonus, right?

This is one of my favorite family images that I have ever taken! A whole lot of joy and some of my favorite people!!
