The Special Event!

Hey guys! This week, we’re getting a chance to ditch our winter duds and head down to Tampa for The Special Event. I’m lucky to be joining an awesome team of Richmond wedding pros-

If you’re in town for The Special Event, please join us this Wednesday at 2pm in Room 13 for  Time Crunch, managing the delicate balance between your clients wants and the professionals involved needs on the BIG day.

Brides and their entourages are being bombarded with more and more opportunities and products to dazzle their guests and make their events memorable. As a planner how do you balance it all? It’s our job to “make it happen” and we walk a very fine line, wanting to make our clients happy and leveraging/maintaining our relationships with the event professionals involved in the BIG day process. How do we manage the “stylized” photo shoots in between ceremony and reception, the film maker that needs his shots too, the make up artist and hair stylist that committed to 24 services, and don’t forget the “angry chef that has $37,000 worth of filet mignon turning to rubber if we aren’t seating guests promptly at the designated time.

See you there!

Summertime…

Hey, Guys!

I know  I know… I am the world’s worst blogger (I am sure my pr buddy is rolling her eyes as she reads this) but we are wrapping up a beautiful, busy summer and going into the busiest season of the year. I have had tons of weddings this year, fun families shoots and babies this summer as well as traveling all around and enjoying my own kiddos!

In other news, I am SOOOOO excited to say that I have an image out in Oprah’s O magazine October issue of my friend and kindness guru, Patience Salgado. I am so proud of Patience and impressed by everything that she does. We are lucky to have her as an example on how to live with kindness in good ole RVA. Here is a link to her blog if you haven’t had a chance to check it out yet:

I, also, have a wedding in VA living Magazine! To say that I am grateful is a complete understatement, but those are the only words that I can find! I am feeling incredibly grateful for the support and encouragement from various blogs, publications and most importantly from my clients! Thank you all so much!  I’m not going to leave you with out any images so here is a sweet little man to feast your eyes on today. We just shot his 9 month photos this weekend and it has been a joy to watch him grow this year as well as get to know his sweet family!

All my best,

Meghan

Orange Wedding Tour

Yesterday morning when we all woke up, I am pretty sure that we were all thinking the same thing. Ugh. The skies decided to pour down on us right as we were supposed to do a tour?  So, we donned our sensible shoes, left the heels at home and forged ahead! And, boy, did we get lucky! Every single time that we were on the bus or in one of the B&B’s or under a tent for dinner, it rained buckets but then as soon as we went out for a walking tour the sun popped out. It was absolutely fortuitous. We just trucked through some puddles and had an absolute blast.

I have to admit that the past two days have been full of complete and utter gluttony. Wow, do those Orange County B & B’s and Vendors know how to treat some guests. We, basically, had food at least once an hour. The best mint sweet tea that I have ever had in my life and, folks, my grandma makes a mean, sweet tea. Mint Julep Mimosas or some such concoction. I mean the list goes on and on…. there were hayrides, baby chicks, and this foodie was heaven. I can’t even tell you how impressed I am with the vendors from Orange County. To top it off, it is a completely stunning locale.

I have many more images to follow up with tomorrow but just wanted to give you all a quick sneak peek into this amazing tour spearheaded by Jen McBride of McBride Events and Jay Billie of The Inn at Westwood Farms. I had the special treat of staying at  The Inn at Westwood Farm and, well, when you get jealous when you see the pictures of my breakfast… Let’s just say you should be as well as jealous of the amazing shower at the Inn (umm… I took 3 in less than 12 hours) and the porches that are lovely for a great conversation. I can’t wait to go back and even better I can’t wait to go back to shoot some weddings!

I have to do a quick photo shout out because a couple of these photos were taken with my camera by someone else: the picture of the three boots (mine are the black ones…. thank you J.Crew sale. Apparently, I may be the only Richmond vendor without super cute rain gear and I may need to do something to remedy that situation.) was taken by Scott Strimple of United Weddings  and the picture of me relaxing (very happily) on my bed  for the evening was taken by Meghan Ely of OFD Consulting!

Orange County Tour

The next two days are going to be great days! It’s not often that you know that in advance but not only do I get to spend the day with some of my favorite vendors and friends from the Richmond area but we get to tour a bunch of amazing venues in  beautiful Orange County, VA. I will definitely be sharing images from the tour as soon as we get back but in the meantime will be getting completely spoiled by these amazing venues that are pulling out all of the stops for us! See below for the press release sent out about this wonderful opportunity that was spearheaded by the always amazing Jennifer McBride of McBride Events!

ORANGE COUNTY ROLLS OUT THE RED CARPET FOR TOP WEDDING PROS

ORANGE, VA—Over thirty Orange area wedding professionals are joining forces this May 17 and 18 to present the Orange Wedding Tour to leading wedding professionals from across Virginia. Designed with the goal of building awareness, as well as connecting influential wedding professionals to Orange County, the Orange Wedding Tour boasts two full days of wining and dining as attendees make their way through venues and bed and breakfasts throughout the county.

“I’ve had the opportunity to produce events throughout the state,” explains veteran wedding planner Jennifer McBride of Richmond based McBride Events, “but have always been attracted to Orange County as a convenient destination location for my brides. Collaborating on the Tour to put Orange on the map made perfect sense.”

The initial concept of the tour evolved from a chance meeting between McBride and Jay Billie, Innkeeper at the Inn of Westwood Farm last winter.

With a shared purpose to showcase Orange’s wedding offerings, Billie and McBride quickly began planning the two day tour. The guest list includes some of the top wedding professionals statewide as well as representatives from the wedding media. Those in attendance will have the opportunity to not only tour Orange area venues, but sample food, décor and music from area wedding professionals. In total, thirty Orange area wedding  vendors have donated more than $45,000 in services for the Orange Wedding Tour.

“We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to showcase what we do best!” says Billie.  “Orange County’s tranquil setting is ideal for weddings and the variety of settings is unsurpassed. There are very, very few places where you have wedding venue choices that include a presidential home, a award winning winery and acclaimed bed and breakfasts.  We look forward to welcoming our guests to the area.”

The Orange Wedding Tour is by invitation only. For more information please contact Jennifer@mcbrideevents.com.

updating the blog

So folks…. you will have to hang in there with me if for some reason you happen to be checking out my blog this evening! I am updating it and going through the process of making it mine. Currently right now even the blog header is just a default so hopefully I will have it up and running and looking like my brand prior to the morning. Can’t wait for you all to see it!

It’s official. The one a.m. update is that I am far from done but too tired to continue! This thing is so much fun… it’s so customizable! I am sure it may take me a bit to get it a hundred percent up to par so I appreciate your patience in the meantime. I will be back posting pictures as soon as I can!! :-)

Here’s one for the road. A sneak peek from Sarah and Chris’s beautiful Montpelier Wedding.
